A Drink and a Jeep – Mikayla & Mike’s Love Story

Mikayla and Mike met each other at a bar in Chico, CA. But it was in San Francisco where everything started (after exchanging some messages on MySpace).
And this coming June they are tying the knot at the beautiful San Francisco Old Mint. We cannot wait to be at their wedding!!
For now, here is how they fell in love. Enjoy it!

Where to go? Bay Area Venues We Love!

There’s certainly no shortage to stunning wedding venues in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. No matter how many weddings we film, we are always in awe of the beautiful locations our couples find. Here are just a few of our favorites!

1. Foreign Cinema, San Francisco.

This unique and striking venue is right in the heart of the Mission District and provides a memorable, modern background to your festivities. There are several package options depending on the size of your party, including patio, courtyard, gallery and mezzanine areas. The photography options are endless within the venue alone, not to mention the city backdrop immediately surrounding Foreign Cinema. A cool bonus is the opportunity to project your own images or videos on the huge walls!

2. Kohl Mansion, Burlingame

Who wouldn’t love a beautiful mansion setting for the happiest day of their lives? Kohl Mansion in Burlingame is a breathtaking, historic venue that adds glamour and class to any event.  This venue has six different event areas, including a library and rose garden, and the estate has unending backdrops for truly gorgeous photos and videos (we filmed a beautiful wedding at this venue, which can be found here).

3. Long Meadow Ranch Winery, Saint Helena

If you’ve ever dreamed of a country wedding, this incredible venue will knock you off your feet. Complete with a barn, vineyard, hay bales, and yes, even a dirt road, this winery provides an upscale rustic look that will leave your guests breathless. Additionally, your guests will enjoy the farm-fresh food prepared by Farmstead’s chef, not to mention the wines crafted on the property.

There are thousands of wedding venues of all kinds throughout the Bay Area, and here we’ve highlighted three styles: modern city, classic mansion, and romantic country. What’s your favorite?

Happy Fall…and Happy Wedding Planning!

With the start of October, that means it’s officially fall here in Northern California, and you know what that means: fall weddings! Though everyone loves summer weddings, autumn weddings have their own magic to them too. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite fall wedding trends for this season, and we can’t wait to see what else our brides have up their sleeves for their own big days!

OXBLOOD RED

This color was seen all over the runways at Fall Fashion Weeks worldwide, and we love it for weddings too! This deep burgundy shade of red is luxurious, soft, and romantic. It fits right in to autumn without being expected. Whether used for bridesmaids or for little accents, we think this look is absolutely gorgeous.

METALLIC ACCENTS

Gold has been popping up everywhere, from celebrity weddings (Alec Baldwin) to the runway with gold wedding dresses from Elie Saab (above), Jenny Packham, Zuhair Murad, and more. While gold can be overwhelming, we think little touches give a luxe, sparkly feel to the whole day! Who wouldn’t love a slice of that beautiful golden cake?

LONG, FAMILY-STYLE TABLES

We love long tables because they add a feel of intimacy to your wedding– all of your family and friends eat together instead of being spread out. It also can make table assignments a little easier :) We think the look of long tables is utterly charming and beautiful, especially when filled with happy, laughing guests!

What are your favorite fall wedding trends? Are you planning on using any of these? And…would you wear a gold dress? :) Let us know what you think in the comments, and head over to our Pinterest to see more of what we love for fall!

Freggie and Mael Love Story

When I first met Freggie and Mael at a coffee shop in San Francisco, I discovered that they had a very unique story.
On that meeting they decided to have a Love Story Movie filmed on a date prior to their wedding so they could share it with everybody on their reception.
Than a couple of emails after that first meeting, they asked me if I could film them enjoying the day at the beautiful Santa Cruz, CA. Of course I said yes! I love Santa Cruz myself…
But there was a meaning behind that choice… I found out that they used to go a lot to the Boardwalk Park to play games and spend some time together when they first started to date.
And while filming them, I definitely noticed how much they love that place. For moments I believe that they forgot that I was there filming them… and I could tell that they were indeed enjoying themselves.
That’s exactly what I love to film… true feelings and true people who really love each other!

Check out their film below…

Thanks for watching!

The Right Dress for the Occasion

Have you ever felt that you picked the wrong outfit for a party or event that you attended? Have you ever thought that you should have picked up a different shirt to go out with your girlfriend on that first date?
Well, I don’t want you to go through that when you receive your final DVD from Silver Tie Films.

This year we are doing a complete make over on our brand, and part of it is to elevate the experience that our clients will have with Silver Tie Films.
We than decided to do give a new look, or a new dress, for our final DVD sets. Here is a quick sneak peak on how they are looking this year. Aren’t they sexy?!

New site, new life

Who doesn’t like new beginnings?

We all start every year with one (or multiple) big New Year’s resolutions. Some of us cannot pass by the first two weeks after the big commitment on January 1st – and I can relate to that in some occasions. But we are always proud when we finally accomplish something that we really wanted to accomplish.

Well, today I am proud that I got my first resolution completed.

In the end of 2011 and after 5 years doing what I love to do (filming live events), I decided to make a change. I wanted to start something to better show my passions and who I am as an event cinematographer. I wanted to have a new website.

After months working with the amazing people at LiftOff by Vision Launchers (www.vlliftoff.com) I finally made my dream come to life.

I couldn’t have this beautiful and BRAND NEW website done without the help of two guys that really went the extra mile for me – David and Russell from the Vision Launchers. They not only made me realize who I really am as a cinematographer, but also helped me understand how I can show that to my clients. So a HUGE thanks to Russell, David and all the folks at Vision Launchers! You guys ROCK.

I hope you all enjoy this new site just as much as I do. And be ready for new videos and posts coming up shortly! I am all excited about 2012! J

Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you back here again soon!

With love,

Gusttavo
