Gabriell & Justine – Love Story & Proposal

This is our first video that we filmed the groom proposing to his future bride. Gabriell was always in contacting with us once he decided to propose to Justine. And once he figured out what he wanted to do on the day that he would “pop” the big question, we coordinated everything to capture all the behind the scenes footage. Justine was so surprised once she saw the ring! And we are so honored to be part of such a special moment for Gabriell and Justine. This video tells their love story and how everything happened during the proposal. Enjoy it!

Susan + Ryan – Wedding Highlights

Susan and Ryan tied the knot at the beautiful Murrietta’s Well in Livermore, CA on August 19th, 2012.
It was indeed a date to forever be remembered. Friends and family gathered together not only to celebrate the union of Susan and Ryan in marriage, but also to say a “goodbye” since the couple moved to Papua New Guinea for a season just a couple of weeks after the wedding. You could feel all their emotions through out the day. We will never forget their wedding!
Here is a quick highlight video of their gorgeous celebration! Enjoy it and share it!

Where to go? Bay Area Venues We Love!

There’s certainly no shortage to stunning wedding venues in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. No matter how many weddings we film, we are always in awe of the beautiful locations our couples find. Here are just a few of our favorites!

1. Foreign Cinema, San Francisco.

{via 1, 2, 3}

 This unique and striking venue is right in the heart of the Mission District and provides a memorable, modern background to your festivities. There are several package options depending on the size of your party, including patio, courtyard, gallery and mezzanine areas. The photography options are endless within the venue alone, not to mention the city backdrop immediately surrounding Foreign Cinema. A cool bonus is the opportunity to project your own images or videos on the huge walls!

2. Kohl Mansion, Burlingame

{via 1, 2, 3}

Who wouldn’t love a beautiful mansion setting for the happiest day of their lives? Kohl Mansion in Burlingame is a breathtaking, historic venue that adds glamour and class to any event.  This venue has six different event areas, including a library and rose garden, and the estate has unending backdrops for truly gorgeous photos and videos (we filmed a beautiful wedding at this venue, which can be found here).

3. Long Meadow Ranch Winery, Saint Helena

{via 1, 2, 3}

If you’ve ever dreamed of a country wedding, this incredible venue will knock you off your feet. Complete with a barn, vineyard, hay bales, and yes, even a dirt road, this winery provides an upscale rustic look that will leave your guests breathless. Additionally, your guests will enjoy the farm-fresh food prepared by Farmstead’s chef, not to mention the wines crafted on the property.

There are thousands of wedding venues of all kinds throughout the Bay Area, and here we’ve highlighted three styles: modern city, classic mansion, and romantic country. What’s your favorite?

Let’s Talk Timing: Booking Your Wedding Cinematographer

Clock for the railway at Whipsnade Zoo

{via}

When you’re planning your wedding, all the planning timelines can get overwhelming. One question that we get at Silver Tie pretty often is “When should I book my videographer?”

As with many things involving weddings, our answer is: the earlier the better, preferably 6-8 months before the date. If you enjoy our films, like our style, and think we are what you’re looking for, we suggest booking your date! As we book weddings throughout the year and are always receiving inquiries, the earlier you book, the better chance you have of your date being open.

But aside from logistics like availability, we also prefer earlier bookings so that we have time to get to know you as a couple. As I’ve mentioned before in this post, I love telling love stories in my wedding films, and I feel I can tell a much fuller story when I’ve been in conversation with the couple and getting to know them for a few months. When I learn more about you, your story, what you like, and what you’re all about as a couple, it helps me know how to approach your wedding film as a whole so I can craft something personally tailored to who you are.

Of course, this is only the ideal time frame, so if your wedding is already closer than 6-8 months away, don’t worry. We do still accept bookings within a closer time frame as long as we still have availability!

I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions or inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Happy Fall…and Happy Wedding Planning!

With the start of October, that means it’s officially fall here in Northern California, and you know what that means: fall weddings! Though everyone loves summer weddings, autumn weddings have their own magic to them too. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite fall wedding trends for this season, and we can’t wait to see what else our brides have up their sleeves for their own big days!

OXBLOOD RED

This color was seen all over the runways at Fall Fashion Weeks worldwide, and we love it for weddings too! This deep burgundy shade of red is luxurious, soft, and romantic. It fits right in to autumn without being expected. Whether used for bridesmaids or for little accents, we think this look is absolutely gorgeous.

METALLIC ACCENTS

Gold has been popping up everywhere, from celebrity weddings (Alec Baldwin) to the runway with gold wedding dresses from Elie Saab (above), Jenny Packham, Zuhair Murad, and more. While gold can be overwhelming, we think little touches give a luxe, sparkly feel to the whole day! Who wouldn’t love a slice of that beautiful golden cake?

LONG, FAMILY-STYLE TABLES

We love long tables because they add a feel of intimacy to your wedding– all of your family and friends eat together instead of being spread out. It also can make table assignments a little easier :) We think the look of long tables is utterly charming and beautiful, especially when filled with happy, laughing guests!

What are your favorite fall wedding trends? Are you planning on using any of these? And…would you wear a gold dress? :) Let us know what you think in the comments, and head over to our Pinterest to see more of what we love for fall!

Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe…Or Is There a Better Way to Choose the Style for Your Wedding Video?

When choosing your cinematographer, you’re faced with a lot of decisions and options. When planning a wedding, it can feel like just one more impossible decision! However, if you have an idea of which style you want, it can make your decision a lot easier by narrowing your options instantly. Though all styles will get the job done of helping you remember the details of your big day, you might prefer one style over another…but how do you know which one you like? Here you will find a quick cheat sheet of the three main styles used in modern wedding cinematography, as well the style that characterizes Silver Tie Films.

Documentary or Video Journalistic Style

In this style, the videographer shoots your event as it unfolds, without artistic direction or much stylizing. The final edit is a play-by-play of the wedding day; usually with little cut out and little to no special effects. The video is edited to give the viewer the feeling of a live documentary of the event. Some fans of this style say that the less edited version gives a more personal feel to this style. This style is good for brides (and grooms!) who prefer a simpler video to remember their special day.

Cinematic

The cinematic style is, just as it sounds, a more stylized and “movie” approach to wedding cinematography.  The cinematographer has an artistic vision for how your video will look, and so this style requires some artistic direction from the cinematographer during the wedding. The final cut will look like a movie starring the bridal couple, with customized music and a more polished finish. Your video will have more dramatic camera angles and creative shots than Documentary style, as well as a focus on the emotional feeling of your day. Cinematic usually requires more cameras and cinematographers, and includes more special effects in the final video. Have you ever wanted one of those romantic montages in the movies for your own relationship? With this style, your video can have the emotional impact of those scenes with a real “wow” factor that will last for years to come.

Storytelling

This style focuses on the personal story behind all the happenings of the big day. It may include voice-over narration from the bride or groom that is added in the editing process. This style acknowledges that the wedding is just one small part of the bride and groom’s life together and puts their wedding in the context of the real celebration: their love story.

Our Style at Silver Tie Films

At Silver Tie, our style is a mix of Cinematic and Storytelling for two simple reasons: I love creating cinematic videos that tell your Love Story. I chose cinematic and storytelling style because it gives me the power to create something that will move the viewers’ hearts. I love the fact that we can make even a stranger fall in love with the couple and their story by showing the beauty of a love story. The wedding is about celebrating not only your day, but what you have experienced together to get to that day, as well as your future life together! We believe in creating videos that make that connection between the wedding and everything else that makes you special as a couple. When I’m editing a wedding film, I have the mindset that it’s not just showing what happened on your wedding day, what colors you chose or what kinds of flowers you used for the centerpieces…it’s about telling your story, showing that special connection you have with each other. That’s why I love what I do, and what pushes me to become better with every wedding I film.

And the Wait is Over – The Arrival of the Second Miracle

A couple of months ago I posted the first pictures of the Pregnancy Photo Session that I did for my wife.
I titled the blog post as “Waiting for The Second Miracle” because my wife and I couldn’t wait to have our second son on our arms.
Well, before she gave birth, she wanted me to take more photos of her, but this time around the beach.
The place that she picked is one of the most amazing places in California – Big Sur.
The big rocks, great trails and amazing ocean views are just some of the things that you can expect to see
when you go to Big Sur. We cannot describe how beautiful that place is.

But Lara was already 37 weeks (or night months) pregnant, and the baby could arrive at any moment.
So we took the car and drove to the coast hoping that the “D” moment could wait at least one more day.
The results are here for you to see.

And just like we expected, the baby arrived the following week! Enzo Martinez Matteucci was born on Aug. 8th, 2012 with 8.4lbs and 21″ long.
The wait was finally over…. Welcome home baby Enzo!
